The ProLinx® family Allen Bradley Remote I/O Adapter to PROFIBUS DPV1 Master communications module (5604-RIO-PDPMV1) creates a powerful connection between devices on a Remote I/O network and PROFIBUS slave devices. The module is a stand-alone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway that provides one Remote I/O port and a PROFIBUS DPV1 Master with a RS-485 9-pin D shell female connector interface with isolated Opto-Couplers.
The RIO interface is an adapter (slave) which can be connected to a RIO scanner (master) that controls the data transfer.
The PROFIBUS DPV1 Master (PDPMV1) protocol driver supports Master implementations of the protocol on either a Mono-Master or Multi-Master network. The DPV1 master supports FDT/DTM communication when using the PSW-cDTM-PDPM FDT communication DTM. The PROFIBUS DPV1 Master FDT communication DTM software is an interface between any compliant FDT software container, an FDT device DTM and applicable PROFIBUS slave devices.
The ProLinx Communication Modules provide connectivity for two or more dissimilar network types. The modules, encased in sturdy extruded aluminum, are stand-alone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateways, providing communication between many of the most widely used protocols in the industrial automation today.
Allows for legacy Allen-Bradley 1771 PLC5 controllers with native Remote I/O communication ports to act as PROFIBUS DPV1 Masters on a PROFIBUS network.
The ProLinx module contains an internal database that consists of areas for application data, status information, and configuration information.
The internal database is shared between all ports on the module and is used as a conduit to pass information from a device on one network to one or more devices on another network.
The data area is used to store and retrieve data by the protocol drivers and for data exchange between protocols. The database is used as a source for write commands to remote devices and holds data collected from the remote devices. Commands defined in the configuration file (stored in the configuration data area) control how the data is to be handled in the database.
This area is used to store error codes, counters, and port status information for each port.
This area contains module configuration information such as port configuration, network information, and command configuration. This configuration file is downloaded to, or uploaded from, this area.

The module supports complete Master specifications according to IEC 61158. Acyclic parameter data can be transferred with Class 1 or Class 2 DPV1 services, allowing processors to easily communicate with slave devices supporting PROFIBUS DPV0/V1 protocol.
The ProLinx PDPMV1 PROFIBUS Master module acts as a PROFIBUS network scanner, transferring Input and Output data between PROFIBUS devices and the network.
PROFIBUS Master Specifications
PROFIBUS Master Port
The PROFIBUS DP Master protocol driver supports complete Master specifications according to IEC 61158 on either a Mono-Master or Multi-Master network. The module supports the DPV1 specification.
The RIO interface is an adapter (slave) which can be connected to a scanner (master) that controls the data transfer. The module also supports limited high speed data transfer via the Input and Output images.
The RIO interface is an adapter (slave) and is connected to a scanner (master) that controls the data transfer. For example, the master/slave relationship can be accomplished using the RIO module (adapter/slave unit) with a Rockwell Automation PLC5 (scanner/master unit). Ladder logic must be programmed into a PLC to perform BTR/BTW commands to receive and transmit data between the module and the PLC. The module also supports limited high speed data transfer via the input and output images.
