The ProLinx Modbus Master/Slave to PROFIBUS DPV1 Master gateway creates a powerful connection between devices on a Modbus serial network and PROFIBUS DP slave devices. This stand-alone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway provides one serial port and one PROFIBUS Master DB9F port.
The Modbus protocol supports both Master and Slave implementations. All Modbus serial ports are individually configurable, providing a choice of Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII serial protocol support.
The PROFIBUS DPV1 Master protocol supports complete Master specifications according to IEC 61158 Version 1 on either a single or multiple Master network. The gateway offers both cyclic and acyclic data transfers from PROFIBUS DPV1 slaves, as well as cyclic data transfers from DPV0 slaves.

The MCM-PDPMV1 gateways are the ideal solution for the many applications where Modbus connectivity can be used to integrate a PROFIBUS DP Slave device into a system. The Modbus Master/Slave gateway is a powerful gateway designed with Client and Server support, enabling easy connection to Rockwell Automation PLCs (CLX, SLC, PLC, CPLX, and similar devices). In combination with the PROFIBUS DP Slave device support, the gateway provides a very powerful interface to the many PROFIBUS devices which are in use in the industrial marketplace today. Applications for the gateway are found in most industries, especially the Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Electrical Power and Food Processing .
The ProLinx module contains an internal database that consists of areas for application data, status information, and configuration information.
The internal database is shared between all ports on the module and is used as a conduit to pass information from a device on one network to one or more devices on another network.
The data area is used to store and retrieve data by the protocol drivers and for data exchange between protocols. The database is used as a source for write commands to remote devices and holds data collected from the remote devices. Commands defined in the configuration file (stored in the configuration data area) control how the data is to be handled in the database.
This area is used to store error codes, counters, and port status information for each port.
This area contains module configuration information such as port configuration, network information, and command configuration. This configuration file is downloaded to, or uploaded from, this area.

The module supports complete Master specifications according to IEC 61158. Acyclic parameter data can be transferred with Class 1 or Class 2 DPV1 services, allowing processors to easily communicate with slave devices supporting PROFIBUS DPV0/V1 protocol.
The ProLinx PDPMV1 PROFIBUS Master module acts as a PROFIBUS network scanner, transferring Input and Output data between PROFIBUS devices and the network.
